How come the ancient faiths of other countries are recognised, & upheld by the laws of the land, tolerated by most people, while our own ancient faiths are not ? In this age of Anti-Discrimination it really hurts me to think about that. Not that those faiths should not have those rights, but that mine does not. Are we not all people with the free right to believe as we wish, as our spirit calls us to. I have been quite shocked that Over & Over again, on my travels, I have been asked "What is Paganism" ? I have given a very general answer because as we all know its very hard to explain the wide Umbrella of the 'Pagan' Groups. I have chickened out, by saying "Go to a Moot & see, ask lots of people lots of questions!" It seems to me that there are lots of people out there of all ages who are Seeking a path to walk, but who are unsure where to go to discover the one they want, (or is it the one that wants them ?). We, as committed Pagans need to be out there somewhere, maybe not LOUD but certainly Proud ! I was booked recently to give a talk at a Moot. Robert said to me, 5 minutes before I set off, "What is your talk going to be about?" I told him I didn't have a clue ! I know from experience that the words will come, I've had to learn to trust in that. More than once I have typed out notes etc. & when I get to the venue found people expecting something different, or I've left my talk on the bus ! So I know I can adapt, & whoever/whatever is inside or outside of me WILL provide something & I usually find that the talk will especially touch at least one person there, & in that, I know I have done what was meant to be done, & thats a good feeling, for me, thats the reward, if I needed one. I believe there are many Paths to Truth, Light, & Wisdom, but there is ONE Destination & maybe that is our reason for being, to help others to reach it.
I now feel I need to move on to other things, other projects. So, I will NO LONGER be able to run the 'Preston Moot', although I hope to support it. I feel the best way forward for the Moot, at this time, would be for 3/4 people to organise it between them, perhaps taking it in turn to ofer their homes as a venue, on alternate months. That way, people could bring their own drinks & food to share, & it could be held on a Friday/Saturday or Sunday. I await developements & will keep readers informed via these pages.
